The Johnston County — Pine Level Sewer Force Main Replacement project
proposes approximately 20,300 linear feet of new force main sewer line
from the existing Pine Level pump station on North Peedin Ave, following an
existing gravity sewer line, and ultimately discharging into an existing
manhole adjacent to Outlet Center Dr. This will increase the capacity of the
sanitary sewer collection system for Pine Level allowing for the town to
grow further in the future as they are nearing their Flow capacity. The
project is located within the municipal and extra -territorial limits of the Town
of Pine Level and Johnston County with some minor cut through of
properties within the Town of Selma Most of the lines will be installed
adjacent to existing roads with some being installed cross country following
the existing gravity sewer. Most locations where there are existing streams
and wetlands there are proposed bore with encasement pipes and
horizontal directional drill to avoid those conflicts. In two incidences open
cut with stream bypass is proposed due to the constraints of the existing
conditions. The installation of the force main is expected to disturb a total
of 13.32 acres of soil, primarily in the excavation and stockpiling of dirt
associated with the installation of the proposed force main.
