Sullins Director August 31, 2010 Subject: Inspection-NC Highway 146 DWQ Project 07-0124 TIP No. R-2813 B Buncombe County Dear Mr. Swain: Dee Freeman Secretary On August 27, 2010, I inspected the construction work on Interstate 26-NC Highway 146 project (Long Shoals Road) in Buncombe County. Construction work on the Long Shoals Road bridge is complete and construction of the 1-26 bridges are almost complete. Most of the remaining work is concentrated on the new 1-26 on and off ramps, the new part of Long Shoals Road and removal of the old French Broad River Bridge. Please continue to ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and mulching are performed as needed to protect downstream waters. Work is now underway paving the I-26 on and off ramps. Seeding and matting have been completed on part of the ramps. Old Bridge over the French Broad River on Long Shoals Road is being dismantled. Care should be taken to prevent saw cooling water from entering the French Broad River. Please continue to maintain sediment and erosion control devices and continue with seeding and matting as required to protect State surface waters. 1-26-NC 146 August 2010 Inspection Report
