There are 4 septic tanks; they are pumped every 2-3 years. Given the number of residence in the mobile homes served by these tanks, we discussed having the ORC check the solids level to determine if the tanks need to be pumped at this frequency or if it can be extended. PS pumped every 5 years; again inspections of the wet well may determine when pumping is needed. Wastewater flows are from pump rates. Area of sand filter did not indicate any issues. This is an older system without a liner by design. It is in the floodplain and likely in close proximity of the groundwater table. The flow from the effluent pipe appears to have groundwater intrusion based on a quick check (bucket/stop watch) of the flow. The Inspector had the ORC sample for Fecal Coliform on two consecutive weeks at the effluent, upstream and downstream of the effluent pipe, as well as upstream of the sand filter system to make sure this system was not causing any instream issues. The samples did not indicate any issues from this wastewater system.
