A Nationwide Permit No. 18 was previously issued for the Beaverdam Creek Monitoring Station
Project (Action ID No. 200230843, dated 5/6/2002). Due to unforeseen circumstances the
quantity of impacts to jurisdictional wetlands needs to be increased to accommodate a vehicular
turn-around area. The current access road does not provide sufficient space to properly maneuver
out of the station. The proposed project amendment will result in the loss of less than 0.01 acre of
jurisdictional wetlands and will remain under the Nationwide 18 threshold of 25 cubic yards below
ordinary high water.
We have attached the revised plan (Figure 1) and the previously authorized Nationwide Permit No.
18 for your review (Attachment A).
We are hereby requesting that you authorize the additional discharge under the existing
Nationwide No. 18 issued to the City of Charlotte under Action ID 200230843. If you have any

conditions of the RGP or the NWP referenced above may subject the permittee to a stop work order, a
restoration order, and/or appropriate legal action.
