Dear Mr. Swain:
On June 30, 2010 1 inspected the construction work on the NC Highway 226 Jacktown Creek project in
McDowell County. The detour has been constructed and the new culvert is under construction.
Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and seeding and mulching are
performed as required to protect State surface waters. Also, please refer to the attached inspection report for
any specific items noted during the inspection.

Work is underway at the bridge construction site with the temporary detour being installed just downstream of
the bridge. Construction of the new culvert is underway and the stream has been rerouted around the work site.
Sediment and erosion control structures appear to be in good condition and working properly.
Continue to maintain erosion control devices and continue with seeding and mulching as required.
