Hunt, Jr., Governor Jonathan B. Howes, Secretary A. Preston Howard, Jr., P.E., Director Hugh B. Barwick, Jr., President Coharie Incorporated P.O. Box 860 Clinton, NC 28328 Dear Mr. Barwick: April 6, 1994 k' : , ... ?, yFT ¢. 4 APR 7 1994 FA.Y.c1TEVILLE F(cG. OFFICE Subject: Application No. WQ0009089 Additional Information Request Coharie Incorporated Deer Track Subdivision STEP Sewer System Sampson County The Permits and Engineering Unit has completed a preliminary engineering review of the subject application. The following items must be addressed before we can complete our review: 1) In accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0219 (1) (1), the Division requires that a value of 120 GPD per bedroom, with a minimum value of 240 GPD per unit, be used to calculate the estimated volume of wastewater generated for residential dwelling units (DU). Please indicate the specific number of bedrooms per DU, and recalculate the total flow volume estimate using this figure. If the recalculated value is different from that originally calculated, please revise page 2 of your application. Note: Please provide a letter of flow acceptance from the City of Clinton which specifies the amount of flow indicated on page 2 of the application. 2) Please include the total amount of 1.5-inch pressure service line, to be used to connect each house to the common pressure sewer, on page 5 of the application, along with the values of 2- inch and 3-inch pressure sewer. (If the exact figure cannot yet be determined, an estimate calculated on a per house basis will be adequate.) 2a) Please recheck the total linear footage of 2-inch and 3-inch pressure sewer. If the recalculated value is different from that listed on page 5 of your application, please revise page 5 to reflect the correct linear footage. 3) Please verify that the system will include 39 pumps, each with a 40 GPM capacity. 4) The Division typically requires 24 hours of storage above the high water level of each wet well. Preliminary calculations have shown that approximately 7.2 hours of storage are available above the high water level (for an average flow of 360 GPD--3 bedroom house), and approximately 16.8 hours of total storage are available in each wet well. Please either redesign P.O. The velocity must meet or exceed 2.0 fps at some time during system operation to comply with I SA NCAC 2H .0219 (i) (2) (B). 6) The two conditions listed below are applicable to each pressure sewer or STEP system, and are included in each permit for either type of system. Please explain how Coharie Incorporated will address the following items: a) The permittee shall maintain on hand for immediate installation a supply of spare, fully operational pump units of each type used in the pressure sewer system. The number of pumps on hand shall not be less than 10 percent of the number of installed units, or one unit, whichever is greater. b) Each pump station shall be clearly and conspicuously posted with the telephone number of the owner/operator of the pressure sewer system and instructions to call the number in the event of high water alarm activation. Refer to the subject permit application number when providing the requested information. Please submit three (3) copies of all information to my attention at the address below. Also, please note that failure to provide this additional information on or before May 9, 1994, will subject your application to being returned as incomplete, in accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0208.
