Road (SR 2975) and North Carolina / Norfolk Southern railroad crossing, by depressing
Sugar Creek Road underneath the railroad.

NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED
CONSTRUCTION OF A GRADE SEPARATION AT SUGAR CREEK ROAD (SR 2975)
AND THE NORTH CAROLINA / NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILROAD; AND THE
PROPOSED CLOSURE OF THE CRAIGHEAD ROAD AT-GRADE
RAILROAD CROSSING IN CHARLOTTE

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a Citizens
Informational Workshop for the above-mentioned railroad project on Thursday, August
12, 2010, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m. at the Sugaw Creek
Presbyterian Church (Fellowship Hall) located at 101 Sugar Creek Road West,
Charlotte, NC 28213.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit
written comments and/or questions will also be provided and are encouraged.
Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. Please
note: there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to construct a grade-separation (bridge) at the existing Sugar
Creek Road (SR 2975) and North Carolina / Norfolk Southern railroad crossing, by
depressing Sugar Creek Road underneath the railroad. Re-surfacing and grading work
will begin just north of the intersection of Sugar Creek Road and The Plaza, extending
under the railroad, and ending just south of the Sugar Creek Road / North Tryon Road
intersection. In addition to the proposed grade-separation at Sugar Creek Road,
NCDOT proposes to permanently close the Craighead Road at-grade railroad crossing,
as part of this project.
