Box 1006 Charlotte, NC 28201-1006 This letter is to inform the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC") that Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC ("Duke") has removed the Dillsboro Dam and Powerhouse, and restored the shoreline of the former Dillsboro Pond as required by July 19, 2007 FERC Order Accepting Surrender and Dismissing Application for Subsequent License ("Surrender Order") as amended on April 22, 2008. This Surrender Order allowed Duke until July 19, 2010, to complete these activities. Pursuant to the Surrender Order, Duke developed a Demolition Plan (submitted on September 9, 2009, to address Paragraph 50 D with FERC Authorization to Begin Demolition of Dillsboro Project Structures received on December 16, 2009) and a Restoration Plan (submitted on June 17, 2008, to address Paragraphs 50 E and N with FERC approval received on March 30, 2009). The Demolition Plan was implemented in January 2010, completed on May 11, 2010, and the Final Demolition Report for Dillsboro Dam and Powerhouse submitted to the FERC Atlanta office on June 14, 2010. The Restoration Plan was implemented in March 2010 and completed on July 15, 2010.
