I wanted to inform you that construction of the structural steel pipe arch has commenced at this project. The contractor has
successfully used a hoe ram to excavate the streambed to the proper grade and elevation. The Department proposes to bury the pipe
structure in the streambed at the inlet and outlet per the permit condition. It will likely be buried up to a foot in the bed at the inlet.
Note that this is necessary due to the change in the stream (actually the bedrock) across the stream.
The contractor has installed portions of the riffle pool complex and bank stabilization at the outlet. This is depicted in the attached
photograph.
