SEDIMENT REMOVAL GUIDELINES
All removal must be by hand and hand tools, no heavy machinery in streams.
Work in the dry, de-water if necessary.
Remember that the objective is to remove recent sediment that likely deposited from a
recent storm event, particularly silt type deposits. In other words, do not work in areas
that do not appear to have received recent deposits.
Use flat straight edge shovels
Ensure that downstream is not impacted by removal.
Haul sediment to approved site.
Only remove what is necessary (Better to leave some sediment than remove below
original stream bed).
Work from the banks rather than in the stream. Unless the stream is too wide to stand
on the banks.
