A PIWA NCDENR North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Division of Water Quality Beverly Eaves Perdue Coleen H. Sullins Dee Freeman Governor Director Secretary Mr. George Hovey Jr. 21104 Lakeview Circle Cornelius, NC 28031 Subject: Shoreline Stabilization, Landscape Pan, Lake Norman Dear Mr. Hovey: May 25, 2010 DWQ # 10-0293 Mecklenburg County On April 20, an after the fact application for a 401 Water Quality Certification was received for the proposed site. The plan was reviewed. Greater clarification is required for the landscape plan, the type of "pathway" to the shoreline, and the location of Zone 1 of the Catawba Riparian Buffer (30 ft from full pond). The access to the lake must be pervious and the proposed plantings should be native species. At minimum they should be low maintenance plants which require little chemical treatment (fertilization and herbicides). Be advise that Mecklenburg County also has a buffer program. Pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H .0507(h), please be advised that this project will be placed on hold. Failure to submit the requested information by July 15, 2010 may result in the application being withdrawn from consideration. You may reapply, but a new fee and application will be required. In addition, this office is requesting that the Army Corps of Engineers withhold processing the 404 permit until the requested information is provided.
