Much effort has been contributed to the `Stormwater Cause' with many stakeholders over the 2018
calendar year.
Pointing out several accomplishments & some that are ongoing:
• The City's stormwater advisory commission, SWAC, began meeting January 2017. They have
met once per month and a couple months they have met twice
• City staff with the SWAC met and briefed City Council on two separate occasions -May & August.
These workshops were solely dedicated to educating the elected body on the requirements of
the npdes permit and existing challenges the City faces with its Stormwater infrastructure
■ In September the City council adopted a stormwater utility, with the plan to implement Summer
2019
We have made great progress on the City's Post -Construction Stormwater Ordinance. However, this
ordinance is considered a text change to the city's ordinance. Several steps are needed in order to
adopt: Public comment, consideration by the City planning board, City council, etc., and to allow the
development community time to adjust to the transition from DEQ to Statesville, I believe requesting an
extension is appropriate. I would like to request an extension to July 1", 2019.
