HomeMy WebLinkAbout20040977 Ver 1_Monitoring Report_20100609o-A - uO' Anson County City Pond Restoration Site Notes ct- ('t. C_ i o?4tA4_1 • Buffer widths were less than 50' in several locations ...I would say only on a small percentage of actual stream length though • There was some vegetation growing in the riffles in the stream. Mostly small herbaceous vegetation. Likely the result of the extremely dry past several years and no water in stream. I have seen many natural perennial streams in my region that have had a great deal of veg. in the channel because of the drought. • No invasive species noted during the site visit. • Evidence of prior beaver dams was present, but no active dams were seen during visit. There were lots of small beaver cut trees in the area of the stream so reestablishment of the dams is likely. • Almost all of the planted trees were present and surviving, but many of the trees planted in the subsoil that was exposed during excavation to create the floodplain were very small (12-24 inches). • Stream channel appeared to be stable with the exception of one area noted on reach S1. The problem area had a pretty steep gradient where the stream was coming down into the floodplain of the main channel. The stream had cut under one of the log weirs and the channel had down-cut slightly. I don't know of any corrective action that could or should take place at this point. r--- t;:a JUN - 9 2010 DENR - WATER QUAUTY WETLANDS AND STMMWATER BRANCH < -0 U) K W N - CmCU n u u n n ??? ?
