The treatment units (sand filter beds and pipes) appear to need work. The distribution pipes do not appear
to be functioning optimally.
The sand filter bed needs work. Only portions of the beds are treating the wastewater. The ponding
occurring at the time of the inspection was not acceptable.
These treatment units should be evaluated and repaired as needed.
Effluent Sampling Results: BOD 12 mg/I, TSS 6.3 mg/1
Fortunately the effluent samples were compliant. However, the maintenance work noted above will likely be
needed soon to avoid effluent violations.
The septic tank is pumped annually which appears to be a good maintenance practice and is assisting in
keeping the sand filter beds from failing.
