Good Morning Robb and Daniel,
The Eagle Island PDT revisited the spillway locations for Eagle Island Cell 1 and would like to present the revised
preliminary drawings to you for your review:
Spillway 1 pipe was repositioned and extended to reach beyond MHW and daylight at the upper reaches of a small
slough that drains to the Brunswick River.
Spillway 2 pipe was extended to an existing pool in the marsh.
Spillway 3 pipe was repositioned and extended to reach beyond MHW and daylight at the upper reaches of a slough that
drains to the Brunswick River. I will ask the Engineer to reposition more towards 9 o'clock so the pipe daylights into
water, not marsh.
Once these are approved the engineer will finalize the plans and we can forward those to you. The hope is to have all 3
spillways in compliance with Water Quality Cert 4137 conditions and DCM citation 15A NCAC 07H.0208(b)(2) (D)
General Use Standards:
"Effluent from diked areas receiving disposal from hydraulic dredging operations shall be contained by pipe, trough, or
similar device to a point waterward of emergent vegetation or, where local conditions require, below normal low water
or normal water level."
Please understand that due to cost, we cannot extend the spillway structures all the way to the Brunswick River; and the
proposed locations are in line with existing spillways locations in Cells 2 and 3. Please feel free to call me if you have any
concerns.
Thanks,
Emily

Steve & Emily,
I agree, at this point, extending Spillway 1 and 3 a little bit further won't hurt.
Respectfully,

Steve,
I would suggest extending Spillway 1 another —50 feet because it is still daylighting in the marsh.
Spillway 2 looks good.
Spillway 3 could be extended another 20 feet as well.
Thanks,
Emily
