4. Description of the existing treatment facilities:
This package plant consists of a bar screen that discharges into a flow equalization basin
(capacity 9,915 gal.), a sludge wasting basin (capacity 4,500 gal.), an aeration basin
(capacity 10,817 gal.) that has two root blowers that supply air pressure for the aeration
process and return sludge from the square clarification filter (capacity 2,950 gal.) and a
post aeration basin (capacity 2,950 gal.) that aerates the clarification effluent before it
enters the chlorine contact chamber (capacity 1,162 gal.). The processed effluent then
leaves the plant through the discharge line to Lake Wylie.
