Stuffs Family Limited is leasing a portion of the approved marina area to CBC Custom Shorelines, Inc. for a staging area. Duke Energy requires that we notify/request comments from their list of NC agencies on the change in use of this portion of their existing leased area. This marina was approved in 1983 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and there will be no additional construction. The existing boat hoist/ramp will be used by CBC Custom Shorelines, to load and unload dirt and rock related to dock building and shoreline stabilization. The permanent staging area reduces the number of areas disturbed around the lake for the purpose of construction. The type of construction will be loading and off- loading stabilization materials (e.g. rip rap) and the unloading of dredge material into dump trucks to be hauled to an approved dumping site. All Sedimentation Control Laws will be observed. Application is being made to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC for the required FERC permit to continue to use this portion of the approved leased area as a Permanent Staging Area. We ask that you advise us, by return mail, of any comments you may have concerning this marina or any permits your authority may require.
