Valdese Water Recycling LLC (NCS000600)
Aana,
In response to the recent Request for Comments I received for Valdese Water Recycling (NCS000600), I visited the
facility on October 27, 2020. 1 was unable to meet with anyone at the facility, but have the following
comments/concerns.
1) The "Frac-Tanks" at the facility had a buildup of water around them that had suds in it (See pic below). These
Frac tanks may be leaking and the permit might benefit from specifically mentioning these tanks in the
inspection requirements.
2) Mulch was observed being staged at the facility. If this mulch is being used in the treatment process, or is itself
contaminated, storage of this material will have to be in containment in the future.
3) The outlet end of the stormwater infrastructure on site has causing extreme erosion and slope failure. It is
becoming a safety hazard do to erosion back underneath the asphalt on site as well. I would recommend that
they be required to submit a plan to address the issue in some manner during the first year that they are
permitted (ASAP).
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Isaiah
