Typical Cross Section Description: NC 268: Two twelve feet wide paved lanes (total 24 feet wide), eight feet wide shoulder NC 268: open shoulder section, two eleven feet wide paved lanes (total 22 feet wide) on each side (eleven feet wide with guardrail). The first five feet of the shoulder is paved. Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: 3720 Year: 2040 Existing: 3520 Year: 2020 General Project Narrative: This project is the replacement of the NCDOT Structure Bridge#850103. The existing bridge length is 210 feet (1 @ 70', 1 @ 70', and 1 @ 70' RC Deck on I-Beams)while the (Description of Minimization of Water proposed bridge will be 215 feet (1 @ 55', 1 @ 105', 1 @ 55' 63" MBT). Temporary causeways are needed to remove existing abutments and set proposed interior girders. Only Quality Impacts) one workpad can be placed at a time to maintain 50% of the river width. The existing bridge has 12" HDPE funnel drains on both ends of the bridge. The proposed bridge will have deck drains on the right side that are outside top of banks and not over the water. The roadway runoff will be discharged onto rip rap pads located as far away from the river as practicable. A shoulder berm gutter will be placed at the beginning and end of the bridge on the right side to help guide the road runoff to the two 2GIs.
