Dear Mayor Deal:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your check number 022123 in the amount of $2,500.00,
which was received in our offices on November 26, 1997. This payment satisfies in full the
stipulated penalties assessed on September 22, 1997 against the Town of Taylorsville for
violations of EMC SOC WQ 96-12. As you are aware, penalties totaling $5,000.00 were
originally assessed for. the violations. Following discussions between the Town and the Division
of Water Quality, the Division has agreed to accept $2,500.00 in full settlement of this matter.
Please be advised that payment of this penalty does not preclude the Division from taking
further enforcement action for violations of the NPDES Permit. You are reminded that EMC SOC
WQ 96-12 has expired and the Town is expected to fully comply with the terms, conditions and
limitations found in NPDES Permit NCO026271.
