Balance Legacy Farms 604 Benton Pond Road Fremont, NC 27830 Dear Mrs. Ballance: NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality October 26, 2020 Subject: Sludge Survey Testing Dates Certificate of Coverage No. AWS960002 Legacy Farms Animal Waste Management System Wayne County The Division of Water Resources (Division) received your sludge survey information on September 23, 2020. With the survey results, you requested an extension of the sludge survey requirement for 93 and 94 lagoons at the Legacy Farms facility. Due to the amount of treatment volume available, and the rate of sludge accumulation for the lagoon, the Division agrees that a sludge survey is not needed until December 31, 2025. The next sludge survey for lagoons 93 and 94 at the Cottle Farm should be performed before December 31, 2025. Please retain this letter and keep it with your farm records for reference. Due to the amount of sludge in lagoon #2, at Legacy Farms, a Sludge Survey Extension is required by December 31, 2020. However, since the last survey was performed on December 12, 2018, if you have performed a sludge removal since that time, another current sludge survey may be submitted for consideration. Please call me at 919-707-3663 if you have any questions.
