Please see my responses below:
Pipe removals: Estimated area of disturbance to remove existing crossing and regrade channel banks.
Estimate is conservative and also included adjacent areas of soil path to be ripped and prepped for
seeding and planting. Buffer impact areas counted as the same for each pipe removal for consistency.
Crossing Installations (1, 2, & 3):
0 Pipe lengths are 18 feet. Top width of channels are conservatively estimated to be 10 feet (18 ft
X 10 ft= 180 ft^2)
0 Soil path is to be 10 feet wide. Estimating 16 feet of compacted soil path from top of bank on
both sides of crossing (16 ft X 2 X 10 feet= 320 ft" 2)
0 180 ft ^2 + 320 ft^2= 500 ft A (conservative estimate)
Banks Stabilization: Areas shown in table were measured directly from bank stabilization polygons in
the mitigation plans. Polygons in mitigation plans were created from a field survey of actively eroding
vertical channel banks. Bank stabilization footprints are based on the sloping of vertical banks back to a
2.5:1 slope.
Cattle Exclusion Fencing: Estimated area was calculated incorrectly. Buffer zones were calculated by
buffer crediting zones and not buffer zones as indicated in the buffer authorization guideline document.
Please find the revised Cattle Exclusion Fencing impact areas below. It is worth noting that the area is
based on a linear foot of fence to be installed within each buffer zone multiplied by 1.5 foot width to
account for maintenance along the fence line.
o Updated Cattle Fencing areas are as follows:
• UT 1
• Zone 1= 117 linear feet X 1.5 feet = 175.5 ft A
• Zone 2= 60 linear feet X 1.5 feet = 90 ft^2
• UT 2
• Zone 1= 258 linear feet X 1.5 feet = 387 ft^2
• Zone 2= 145 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 217.5 ft^2
• UT Muddy Creek
• Zone 1= 247 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 370.5 ft^2
• Zone 2= 84 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 126 ft^2
• UT 3
0 Zone 1= 37 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 55.5 ft^2
• UT 4
• Zone 1= 68 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 102 ft" 2
• Zone 2= 20 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 30 ft" 2
• UT 5
• Zone 1= 68 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 102 ft" 2
• Zone 2= 23 linear feet X 1.5 feet= 34.5 ft" 2
