Orr lonathan R Howes, Secretary Regional Manager DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT WATER QUALITY SECTION May 18, 1993 i t` Mr. Vito Montaperto Dana -Hill Corporation _MAY 2 Q 1993 925 Dana Road Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792 deieei;im , o Subject: R newal of NPDES Permit Dana -Hill Corporation NPDES Permit Number NCO073393 Henderson County Dear Mr. Montaperto: Thank you for your reply concerning justification for maintaining a permitted flow of 42,000 gallons per day. It is currently proposed that your renewed permit have separate effluent limitations pages for 10,000 gallons per day and for 42,000 gallons per day. As we discussed by telephone, additional treatment facilities for continuous flow measurement, dechlorination, and ammonia reduction, as well as for treatment capacity will be necessary for expansion. As per our conversation, you were given the choice of selecting a numerical ammonia limit or a toxicity testing requirement to add to your NPDES Permit for the 10,000 gallon per day effluent limitations page. This letter confirms that you have selected the ammonia limits of 11 mg/l summer and 32 mg/1 winter. By copy of this letter, I am also informing our Technical Services Support Group in Raleigh of your choice so that they may make the appropriate change to your permit.
