Attached is a soils map/aerial photo of the GES proposed buffer project north of LaGrange in
Lenior Co. We had discussed a site visit and you were going to coordinate with Mr Kulz.
Dates considered were the 25th or 26th of March. Would you please check you calendar and see
if these or another date works. The site is located off of NC 903 about 2 miles north of
LaGrange; and easily recognizable landmark is a two story house with a bright red metal roof
just south of the intersection of NC 903 and Old Jason Rd. A farm road leading to the
project site is immediately south of the house on 903.
The soils map indicates a Craven soil for the project area; I believe this in error. The
soils are poorly drained black mucks. We had bare root seedlings available and that needed
to be planted, also the planting season is closing. So this week we planted about 1200
seedlings of cypress, tupelo gum and river birch on about 2 - 3 acres of the site.
