I might question the inclusion of Black Walnut in the planting list due to allelopathy.
Thanks

Hey Erin, here are responses to your comments on the Initial Credit Release for RS' Warren Wilson College Site.
1. Thank you for providing the supplemental drone video. Before watching the video, I was going to request
additional photo points at the crossings (particularly downstream of the culverts) and trail sections within the
easements. Just a note on the video, I think it would be helpful to fly at a slightly slower pace to be able to fully take in
stream features and surrounding landscape as part of the review. Thank you. We will do this in the future.
2. 1 understand that nursery species availability was a challenge this year. DWR appreciates the note that an effort
will be made to install the unplanted understory and shrub species onsite in the future. We worked with the Dean of
Land Resources on a tree list that will compliment the species that were planted earlier this year. We have the
following trees on order to be planted this planting season:
Name: I Quantity:
American Hornbeam (Corpinus coroliniono) 1200
Bitternut Hickory (Carya cordiformis)
100
Black Walnut (Juglans nigra)
200
Gray Dogwood (Cornus racemose)
200
Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea)
200
Hazelnut (CorylusAmericana)
200
Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)
200
Persimmon (Diospyros virgniana)
300
Red Mulberry (Morus rubra)
200
Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis)
200
Total:
2,000
3. When the IRT visited the site last November, we were concerned with proximity of the UT-1 channel to the "Pig
Pond" and the current overflow setup. Have any actions been taken to minimize direct inputs from the pond to UT-1?
Dirt was added to the low section of road that was a concern to the IRT. The College will continue to maintain this
section of road with additional dirt as necessary to prevent any leaks.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, Worth
