i. Diffuse flow plan for drainage pipes
1. Remove all drain pipes from water. Corrugated drainage pipes
will be buried connecting to three pipe drainage sections, location
described in the map attached. Two of the diffused drainage
ditches pipes located under the driveway and will be at least ten
feet long, five feet wide, three feet deep and eighteen inches
below the surface of the ground. One of the dispersion ditches
located at the end of the wall will be fifty feet long, five feet wide,
three feet deep and at least eighteen inches below the surface of
the ground. The corrugated pipe will have dispersion holes cored
in it to allow the water to seep into a gravel bed non-forcibly which
will be placed in the gravel dispersion ditch. The cored pipe will
also have a sediment sleeve over sections with holes and a cap at
the end of the pipe to allow water to disperse properly (see
attached site plan).
2. Dual-Track Easement
All gravel will be removed from road within the repair buffer.
Grass will be planted three feet from toe of wall. A three foot wide
gravel track will be installed at the end of the grass strip, and then
a five foot grass swath will be planted at the end of the gravel
track. The second three foot wide gravel track will be installed at
the end if the five foot grass swath, then the final three foot wide
grass swath will be planted at the end of the second gravel track.
(see attached plan)
3. Riparian Zone Planting
1. Fourteen feet from the toe of the wall toward the pond the riparian
restoration planting will begin. 123 (One hundred twenty three)
trees, 117 (one hundred seventeen) hedges and Car ex Stricta
(sedge) will be planted in accordance with the attached plan. The
tree types and numbers will be as follows:
a. 17 Mockernut Hickory Trees
b. 17 Black Walnut Trees
c. 17 Swamp Chestnut Oak Trees
d. 18 Eastern Redbud Trees
e. 18 White Fringetree, Old Man's beard Trees
f. 18 Flowering Dogwoods Trees
g. 18 Bladdernut Trees
h. 29 Common Alder Shrubs
i. 29 Virginia Willow Shrubs
j. 29 Dwarf Azalea Shrubs
k. 30 Red Chokeberry Shrubs
All trees and shrubs are marked for planting on attached plan.
4. Schedule
1. Diffused flow restoration and dual track easement will begin 60
days after acceptance of this work is given by the NCDWQ.
Grass and Carex Stricta will be planted after diffused flow
drainage and dual track easement is completed. All trees and
shrubs will be planted in the month of November, when weather is
cooler and the tree will have a better chance for survival. This
schedule is dependent on the acceptance time of this plan by
NCDWQ, so adequate time is given for work to be accomplished.
Thank You for all of your help,
Christopher Mitscherlich
