NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP
FOR THE PROPOSED REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE NO. 23 ON
US 74 OVER GUM SWAMP CREEK
TIP Project No. B-4817
Scotland County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the
above Citizens Informational Workshop on April 22, 2010 between the hours of
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Laurel Hill Community Recreation
Center located at 14940 Church Street, Laurel Hill.
Interested individuals may attend this informal workshop at their
convenience during the above stated hours. Department of Transportation
representatives will display maps and will be available to answer questions and
receive comments from the public. There will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to replace Bridge No. 23 on US 74 over Gum Swamp
Creek. The proposed design involves the replacement of the westbound
structure on US 74. US 74 has been designated a Strategic Highway Corridor
(SHC) and it is proposed to become future 1-7 : one day. Being a future
interstate requires that access on US 74 will be upgraded to Full Control of
Access. As part of the project, the Devon Drive and Devon Court intersections
with US 74 and existing median crossover will be closed. The two lanes of
westbound traffic will be maintained with a two-lane, one way detour in the
median.
Anyone desiring additional information may contact Ms. Natalie Lockhart,
Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch at 1598 Mail Service
Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1598, phone (919) 850-2187, fax (919) 431-2002 or
