Bass, Right of Way Agent - Division 3 FHWA n NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE NO. 23 ON US 74 OVER GUM SWAMP CREEK TIP Project No. B-4817 Scotland County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above Citizens Informational Workshop on April 22, 2010 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Laurel Hill Community Recreation Center located at 14940 Church Street, Laurel Hill. Interested individuals may attend this informal workshop at their convenience during the above stated hours. Department of Transportation representatives will display maps and will be available to answer questions and receive comments from the public. There will be no formal presentation. NCDOT proposes to replace Bridge No. 23 on US 74 over Gum Swamp Creek. The proposed design involves the replacement of the westbound structure on US 74. US 74 has been designated a Strategic Highway Corridor (SHC) and it is proposed to become future 1-7 : one day. Being a future interstate requires that access on US 74 will be upgraded to Full Control of Access. As part of the project, the Devon Drive and Devon Court intersections with US 74 and existing median crossover will be closed. The two lanes of westbound traffic will be maintained with a two-lane, one way detour in the median.
