has also reviewed this project since she will most likely be the person permitting it since I will be going on leave soon The portions of runoff from impervious surfaces that are not able to be redirected to sheet flow will have to be treated 1n a system You will be able to use sand filters even though the site is draining to SA waters The discharge and overflow from the sand filter can then sheet flow over vegetation or through the wetlands The benefits of now being low -density are that not all impervious surfaces have to be treated and you do not have to treat them to infiltration You can treat as much as possible by sheet flow and swales where applicable If I am not available at the time of your resubmittal, please contact Linda Laurie N C Division of Water Quality 127 Cardinal 2004 Mr Charles Yopp Coastal Mint Storage P O Box 295 Sneads Ferry, NC 28460 Subject REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Stormwater Project No SW8 031206 Coastal Mint Storage Onslow County Dear Mr Yopp The Wilmington Regional Office received a Stormwater Management Permit Application for Coastal Mini Storage on July 8, 2004 A preliminary review of that information has determined that the application is not complete The following information is needed to continue the stormwater review Please show the entire project boundary Also, please delineate all wetlands on site, disturbed or undisturbed If there are large pockets of wetlands, only portions of the wetlands will be allowed to be used in the low density calculations Also, you must label and dimension all impervious areas within the project boundary 2 Please show the location of the roof drains for all buildings The roof drains should be directed towards vegetated areas In order for the project to be considered low -density, the impervious areas must sheet flow through vegetation in all directions Please include flow arrows for the existing impervious areas to show how these areas are being directed to sheet flow through vegetation Also, please revise the drainage for Buildings 3 & 6 to sheet flow in all directions There can be no piping in low -density development The existing 24" stormdrain must be removed or the inlet must be closed Also, the 8" perforated slope drain should be removed The area draining to this drain should uniformly sheet flow through vegetation towards the wetlands and not be concentrated 4 If the runoff from the existing impervious area cannot be redirected so that it sheet flows through vegetation, please consider using sand filters at the pavement edge to capture the concentrated flows then allow the discharge to sheet flow for additional treatment Please submit 2 sets of the plans 6 Please submit a low -density supplement and any high density supplement for proposed systems, if applicable N C Division of Water Quality 127 Cardinal Drive Extension (910) 395-3900 Wilmington Regional Office Wilmington, NC 28405 (910) 350-2004 Fax Customer Service 1 800 623-7748 ARMAIr f4ME
