Apex, NC 27502-9672 June 26, 2006 North Carolina Division of Water Quality (NCDWQ) 1650 Mait Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-1650 Attention: Ms Cyndi Karoty Dear Ms. Karoty, I am writing in opposition to the planned WWP regional wastewater treatment facility proposed location. I live in New Hitt and have an Apex mailing address. White you have not doubt heard alt the different reasons for our citizens' concerns, I think the most important is the track record of sewage spills associated with the Town of Cary. While Cary may point to numerous reasons for each spill it is clearly evident that they have alt happened under the watch of the Cary public works department. Just this last weekend over 7.9 million gallons of waste were leaked into the environment. 7.9 Mittion gallons is a huge amount of untreated sewage. If Cary were allowed to place the new plant in the heart of New Hitl, a spilt of that magnitude would be devastating to this town. If the same teak occurred from the proposed pipeline running along my property, I would lose my pond, which is used to irrigate my 75-tree pecan orchard, my welt and possibly my orchard. Unlike row crops, pecan trees take 7-10 years to start producing and can produce for well over 100 years. The pipeline for the untreated affluent should follow a path that would affect the least amount of people and farms. The plant should be placed on Progress Energy land that was originally seized under threat of imminent domain for utility purposes. A location on Progress Energy land would affect the least amount of people and farms. Your consideration and time in reading this letter is truly appreciated. Your decision can affect the lives of many people. Sincerely, ~o~~.~ JUL 0 5 2006 ~~AND STCRMWATER B CH
