Dear Messrs. Blaisdell & Matthews,
Ms. Karoly:
JUN 3 ~ 2006
DENR -WATER QUALITY
WETLANDS AND STQfil41WATER BR/WCH
I'm not even sure where to begin. I am not quite as eloquent as some of my New
Hill neighbors, but I will tell you, I am proud to be associated with them and have agreed
with all the letters sent to you on behalf of our small community.
I'm amazed at how the WWP have literally railroaded our community into getting
what they want. I don't understand how with all the facts out there that have been
brought to Cary's attention and to the Western Wake Partners how Cary could possibly
be allowed to push this Sewage plant on New Hill. The complete insanity of it all -the
thousands and thousands of gallons of Sewage that have flowed mercilessly over the
county -it's unbelievable -what are they doing? We do not want this sewage plant in
the middle of our community.
We are a town with a diverse group of citizens -farmers, lawyers, secretaries,
businessmen, waiters, those with money, those with none. We love our country living,
our ponds, our animals - it is a good life for our families and has been for generations.
This entire process has been slanted from the beginning with us having no say /
no voice in what was happening to OUR lands. Studies were done setting up better
locations than downtown New Hill -and yet they were ignored. And now the insanity
continues by watching yet another sewage spill in Cary. We do not want this to happen
in our small community.
R
I ask that you seriously consider the location of the sewage plant and chose
another location that does not directly impact our homes, farms and livestock. There
were many in the initial evaluations that were discarded -why? Because all-powerful
Cary had it in their minds to railroad yet another town and ignore the facts and dump on
New Hill, the small rural community. We can not afford to have the type of spills that
Cary has allowed over the years.
We do not want the sewage plant in our community and statements about our
benefiting from it are highly exaggerated -that will be years down the road and it will be
very expensive for us to tie into - it does NOT benefit the citizens of New Hill.
Please consider the outcry from New Hill -please read all the letters from my
passionate and well-spoken neighbors - we are not unrealistic, we realize that the sewage
plant needs to go somewhere - the studies should be revisited and more emphasis be put
on sites that are not in the middle of this rural community that hundreds of us call home.
Our site was chosen unfairly. Look again at the Progress Energy sites where there would
be less impact on homes, churches, community, farms and rest homes. New Hill is a
living, working community full of history and life -please do not let it be destroyed by
the WWP coming in and making it into an industrial crossroads with spillage to ruin all
the good that has existed there for hundreds of years.
Thank you for your taking time to look into this very important issue that is so
critical to our families and our way of life.
Proud to live in New Hill and hoping for a safe future for generations to come,
Slnw~~ + O~(~~
