Deaf Ms. Karoly:
As a resident if New HiII, I have watched the Western Wake Partner's actions with dismay. First they
put very elaborate processes in place for the site selection process, including very detailed metrics, only
to ignore them. Then they spent ~$SOOk in consultant fees to evaluate over 20 sites, only to ignore the
recommendations. Lastly, they "stacked the deck" by selecting the fifth, the seventh and an unranked
site for going forward, ensuring the outcome they want.
Why were sites ranked one through four not taken forward? If the purpose of taking multiple sites
forward to DENR is to ensure the selection process yields the best solution, why exclude the sites that
ranked highest in the consultants report? What are they afraid of, a fair evaluation?
New Hill residents deserve better than this. Cary's spill this last weekend is in sharp contrast to what
they have said publicly about the impact of the treatment plant in the center of New Hill. It makes our
case and our need for support even more critical. We need your help to right this obvious wrong. Please
direct the Partners to consider the sites that are not in the middle of our community.
Sincerely,
