There are plans to locate this facility near the center of the unincorporated town of New Hill. This concerns me for a number of reasons but the most serious one is Cary's record on sewage spills. It was brought out at the public hearing that was held in Apex on June 15 that Cary has the worst record on spills and then just this morning there was a news story about a 5,000,00 gallon spill from Cary that shut down two Raleigh lakes. This was from a pipe that is much smaller than the ones that will run through the New Hill Community to a plant that is proposed right in the middle of the community. A facility of this kind and size should be located away from the population and sited in remote areas only. Again I want to make the point that was made at the hearing. It is not if there is one, but when there is a large sewage spill at this facility, and based on Cary's record there will be one, who will the people of New Hill look to for drinking water for the citizens and their animals. Who will pay to clean up the mess and restore property to pre-spill conditions. The citizens on New Hill do not deserve to have to live in fear that their lives and homes will be ruined by the effects of this facility. I urge you to deny the permit for the Western Wake Regional Waste Water Treatment Facility until it is moved to a more suitable site. Si rely, L~/~° G ' James E.
