This note is a follow-up containing sewage spills that Cary had in the operation of their system. These records were recorded from the Draft EIS for Western Wake Regional Wastewater Management Facility, NBC 17 TV, News 14 Carolina TV, The News and Observer, NC Division of Water Quality and the Town of Cary Web Site. As you can see, their record leaves something to be desired. Again I am aware that the spills mostly occur within the area that has water and sewer system in place so the spills are pretty much contained outside of the potable supply and have little effect on the safety of drinking water within the Town of Cary or near the spills. My concern stated here is again, we in New Hill use wells and our surface water is used for livestock watering and irrigation of crops. We do not have other water supplies so when a spill does occur in our area, our potable water will be subject to contamination. I am mostly concerned, as stated in my previous letter, about our wells. These wells are our only source of potable water and when n~sa~nated by a spill will have serious ramifications, far more serious than within an area with city water and sewage systems. My concern is obvious and need not be stated again h~:rv. I'lca~,c end ^*tached, Cary's record. I request action on someones part to stop the Western Wake Partners plan to place raw sewage lines from crossing the Jordan Lace ~_=_.rate.-shP,~ ~nr~ 4hn in1~~l~i+p. __ ., ~~,.zn,~, uilt ~,n~ trP~.t the water in a plant within a protected area so the wastewater passing through our community is already treated and safe for transp~, z, s= k lcwE ~s ill r~c~t ~~;_ _,~~ ~-a`= ~ ~_ around water and Jordan Lake. lv ~5~1, ~y Richard Heiman C~ Cary Sewage spills: Began: June 23, 200,000 per hour Looks like about 5 Million Gallons Total 2006 & is Ongoing June 17, 2006 2,713 June 16, 2006 7,200 June 15, 2006 792,000 June 13, 2006 6,300 Apri129, 2006 1 8 - 36,000 April 21, 2006 1900 Apri16, 2006 > 1,000 February 4, 2006 11,048 January 28, 2006 > 1,000 January 11, 2006 1,500 January 8, 2006 > 1,000 November 12, 2005 2,235 August 18, 2005 94,000 June 8, 2005 18,000 Apri12005 40 March 2005 1,056 February 26, 2005 1,556 December 2004 1,000 August 15, 2004 15,559 July 13, 2004 1,372 March 16, 2004 25,000 March 1, 2004 15,978 February 13, 2004 1,532 January 14, 2004 2,311 April 15, 2003 346 May 13, 2003 6,040 May 2, 2003 600 March 6, 2003 18,850 March 5, 2003 297 February 22, 2003 1,500 - 1,800 February 17, 2003 1,626 February 2, 2003 3,546 January 28, 2003 4,812 January 26, 2003 3,546 December 5, 2002 5,850 November 29, 2002 420
