Michael,
The NOV 20200045o referenced SSO that occurred on
Friday, February 7, 2020, was in related to a severe thunderstorm
event that occurred in the Millingport Area of Stanly County that
inundated the sewer collection system with inflow resulted in a spill
of an estimated 3,000 gallons at the Milliingport Sewer Lift Station
#4. We investigated the matter and found that heavy ponding of
stormwater had accumulated in a crop field and was directly
inflowing into a damaged manhole ring and lid. Repairs to the
manhole were promptly completed to seal the ring to the cone and
make it watertight.
We are actively finding the location of these manholes in our system
that may be damaged or compromised because of their low lying
location. Attached is the Weather information to the
severe thunderstorm event that occurred on February 6 through
February 7, 2020.
Thanks,
Duane
