The permit was modified in 2018 to add a temporary access road (new permit site 13). Eric, for reference this is USACE Action ID SAW2017-01232. The original permit called for a ditch tie in with bank stabilization, and showed temporary stream impacts to allow for a stream crossing during construction as well as permanent bank stabilization to tie a ditch in on the right bank of Lowry Mill Creek. The permit modification allowed a shift for an access road in the same vicinity, but still within the permanent bank stabilization footprint, as well as temporary wetland fill on the left side of Lowry Mill Creek. Its now time to remove the temporary bridge. The banks underneath the temporary bridge were armored to stabilize the bridge. We had one failure of the bank and it was reworked. At this time, I think it would be best for the stream to leave the rip rap on both banks. I have attached a pdf with photos of each bank and a plan sheet. We propose leaving the 26’ of bank stabilization on both stream banks, rather than just one as permitted. Since total impacts aren’t changing, I don’t believe a modification is needed. Note some rock has fallen into the stream, and the contractor has been instructed to remove it. This is visible in the third picture in the attached pdf. Also, we are going to upsize the ditch and dissipater from class I to Class II for long term stability. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
