Interim compliance date submittal
Dear Mr. Smith:
In accordance with the NC Environmental Management Commission Special Order by Consent,EMC
SOC WQ S 18-004,Duke Energy Carolinas,LLC. (Duke Energy)hereby submits this notification that
completion of decanting of the ash basin occurred on August 13,2020.
The ash basin will be maintained at the current elevation with no less than 3 feet of water above the settle
ash layer. Duke Energy will submit a notice of initiation of dewatering at least seven days in advance of
any dewatering activities commencing.
This notice fulfills our reporting obligation found in section 2.b.of the subject Order.
