The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Beaufort Collection
System on 8/25/2020. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in
compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Collection System Permit No. WQCS00102.
The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the
inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". There were no significant issues or findings noted
during the inspection and therefore, a response to this inspection report is not required.

Inspection Summary:
A routine compliance inspection of the Town of Beaufort Collection System was conducted on August25, 2020. The purpose
of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in
Permit WQCS00102. Elbert Godette, ORC, and Steve Jarman, BORC, were present during the inspection.
The Town of Beaufort currently operates 21 pump stations. Five pump stations and one ROW were inspected and all were
well maintained. Documentation of all operations and maintainence of the collection system is detailed and complete in
dedicated log books. A pump station report of all operations and maintainence conducted is compiled monthly for review by
ORC and Public Utility Director.
The Town of Beautfort is compliant with collection system permit WQCS00102. Please review the comment sections of the
inspection report for more details.

Comment: The 5-year CIP extends from 2020 to 2024. An I & I assessment was completed
in 2010 of
needed repair and replacement of sewer lines. The work is budgeted in the CIP to be contracted
out in 2021 in a Utility Line and Street Improvements Combined Program.

Comment: Operation and maintenance of the collection system are recorded in various log books. The 8
HPLs are inspected and documented 5 times a year. Audio and visual alarms at the pump
stations are checked weekly, and the generators are auto tested weekly.

Comment: The Town ODerates 21 dUDleX DumD stations. The vacuum system is located in the North River
subdivsion, and spare parts are located at the system building. Most of the pump stations have
permanent generators on site and there are two portable generators available. Every three
months, the Town performs preventative maintenance on all the -generators. All pump stations
inspected were well maintained, secured and posted with the required signs. A log book
documents the grease removal frequencies at the pump stations. The audio and visual alarms al
PS #16 and the visual alarm at PS #6 were not operable during the inspection and need to be
repaired as soon as possible.
