Lars,
I was looking over the additional information you provided on 7/28/2020. Everything looks good except for a few small
issues:
Please correct the following:
- Please clearly show the proposed stormwater easement on the plans (Original Comment 4d & General Minimum
Design Criteria 9). The easement will allow maintenance personnel/inspectors the legal authority to enter the
site to maintain/inspect the proposed sand filter. The easement should include the entire sand filter (side
slopes, forebay, sand chamber, overflow pipe, outlet, embankments, & emergency spillway/overflow weir), the
10’ wide maintenance access (already shown on the plans), and an approximately 10’ wide path from the sand
filter to the public right-of-way. I have included a crude sketch of what is required in the attached photo,
“Easement.png”. The actual easement does not need to be so wide downstream of the sand filter and should be
contained entirely within the property boundary.
- Please make the following corrections to the Supplemental-EZ Form:
o Cover Page:
No corrections are needed on this page. NOTE: You do not need to provide a new signature on
the cover page (but you may if you wish).
o Drainage Areas Page:
NOTE: I have included marked up copy of the Drainage Areas page (“Drainage Areas Page.png”)
showing the below corrections.
Entire Siter Column:
Line 4 – “Sand Filter” should be removed. This item can be left blank.
Line 5 – This item is the sum of Line 6 & Line 7 (72,000 sf).
Line 7 – This is the sum of the items listed in Line 10 (72,000 sf).
Line 10, Parking – This item is 24,600 sf.
Line 10, Roadway – This item is 47,400 sf.
Line 16 – This item is the total BUA (72,000 sf) divided by the total project area (96,333
sf). This item is 75%.
Line 19 – This item can be left blank.
Drainage Area 1 Column:
Line 4 – This item should be “Sand Filter”.
Line 5 – This item is the sum of Line 6 & Line 7 (72,000 sf).
Line 18 – This item is the calculated design volume of the sand filter (4,344 cf per the
calculations).
Line 19 – This item should be “Simple Method”.
o Sand Filter Page:
NOTE: I have included marked up copy of the Sand Filter page (“Sand Filter Page.png”) showing
the below corrections.
Line 2 - This item is the calculated design volume of the sand filter (4,344 cf per the
calculations).
1
Line 14 – This item should be “Yes” since an O&M Agreement Form was submitted for this
project.
Line 37 – The incoming flow appears to be distributed over the surface of the sand chamber via
the 6” thick gravel/stone layer (“gravel/stone layer”).
Please provide the following:
- 2x hard copies of the revised plan sheet
- 1x pdf copy of the revised plan sheet (Uploaded to Laserfiche @
https://edocs.deq.nc.gov/Forms/SW_Project_Submittal)
- 1x hard copy of the revised Supplement-EZ Form pages (Pages 2 & 3, page 1 is optional)
- 1x pdf copy of the revised Supplement-EZ Form (Uploaded to Laserfiche @
https://edocs.deq.nc.gov/Forms/SW_Project_Submittal)
Since these are really minor things, once I get the hard copies, anything else that may have changed from addressing
these issues, and the documents are uploaded to Laserfiche (Provided everything is still in order), we can issue the
permit without doing another formal 30-45 day review.
Let me know if you have any questions. Please provide this information on or before October 1, 2020.
