Shane,
Regarding the subject NOI submittal, I spoke with Renee Taylor with Anderson Engineering on 10/28 about some of the
information on the NOI application. She is being copied on this e-mail. Below is a listing of items discussed.
-Question 11): marked incorrectly as site does not currently have a valid mining permit; the application process for a
mining permit is underway; site does have an approved erosion control plan as a single source borrow pit under Project
ID: ROBES-2020-001, which would be closed out upon issuance of a valid mining permit
-Question 19): receiving waters should be listed as only Jordan Swamp, class C waters (mine site is not in an HQW
watershed)
-Question 20): based on above item, should be marked No
-Question 25): Ms. Taylor confirmed that the mine perimeter is greater than 400' from wetlands or surface waters
-Question 32): clarified with Ms. Taylor that the mine site will discharge mine dewatering wastewater through a basin to
Jordan Swamp
-Question 36): Ms. Taylor clarified that the dewatering basin would discharge mine dewatering wastewater as well as
any accumulated/commingled stormwater through a riser/outlet structure, but the basin berm would only overflow
during storm events greater than the 10-year, 24-hour storm
-Question 40): Ms. Taylor clarified that no ASTs, totes, drums, etc. requiring secondary containment are proposed to be
onsite (note: for this specific question I recommend an option of Not Applicable be added to the NOI form)
If you have any questions or need additional information regarding the items above, please contact me.
