Fluoride Compliance Schedule Report - Milestone 2
NPDES permit NC0004626 was issued and effective January 1, 2018 and included a Compliance
Schedule to meet future emissions limit for fluoride, with a future effective limit of 3.7 mg/L. This
report will comply with permit requirement A(3) to provide a status update for Milestone 2, due
September 15, 2020.
As previously communicated in our March 2019 Milestone 1 letter, a change to our manufacturing
product line eliminated the use of fluoride in our batch composition. This resulted in an elimination
of the wet scrubber emission control device, which contributed to the high fluoride content in our
wastewater effluent discharge. We continue to operate without the wet scrubber and have no plans to
reinstate the processes that required this control device. In addition, fluoride effluent results have
been well below the future limit of 3.7 mg/L since we eliminated the wet scrubber influent from our
plant. This data is presented on page 2 for March 2019 — June 2020 as reported in our monthly
discharge monitoring reports.
We feel our operational changes will allow us to comply with the future fluoride limit and have no
need to modify the treatment process.
