It is our understanding that additional NOVs/penalties will not be issued as a result of actions taken as part of the compliance plan or as part of required routine permit sampling during the compliance plan. Tyson proposes to initially install additional groundwater monitoring wells at the compliance boundary to explore and if needed delineate the extent of the potential ammonia plume. Monitoring well placement will be determined by NCDEQ personnel during a planned January 28, 2020 site visit. Weather permitting, wells will be installed by March 1, 2020. Subsequently, the wells will be developed and sampled for Total Ammonia Nitrogen on or before March 13, April 17, and May 15, 2020. Progress reports will be submitted to NCDEQ on or before April 1, May 1, and June 1, 2020. Additional corrective actions, if necessary, will be developed based on groundwater results.
