This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation, Tracking # NOV-2020-DV-0052 concerning the spill
that occurred on December 11th, 2019 at 1589 Skeet Club Road, Guilford County, High Point, North
Carolina.
The spill at the above -mentioned address lasted for 3 hours and 36 minutes. The crew arrived on site
shortly after receiving the call at 12:59pm. The spill location was discovered at 1589 Skeet Club Road.
Once found, the crews worked to locate dry manholes downstream and found that they had been
paved over by several feet of asphalt by a paving contractor working on a NC DOT project. The
manholes had to be dug up which caused a delay in the spill response. Once the crew gained access
to the manhole, they were able to unstop the sewer main using a sewer combination cleaning truck. It
was determined that the blockage was caused by grease in the line. The blockage was knocked down
and all solids were removed. Lime was spread over the area. We reported this issue to our FOG
coordinator who performed inspections in the area and found two restaurants in violation of the City of
High Point FOG ordnance. A NOC was issued, for the two restaurants that were in violation. The FOG
Inspector discussed this matterwith both business representatives. Increased inspections in this area
have been conducted. and cleaning will be increased to prevent future spills.
