This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation, Tracking # NOV-2020-DV-0052, concerning the
spill that occurred on December4th, 2019 at 210 Swathmore Avenue, Guilford County, High Point,
North Carolina.
The spill at the above -mentioned address lasted for 42 minutes. The crew arrived on site within
approximately 15 minutes from receiving the call at 3:40pm. The spill location was discovered at 210
Swathmore Avenue. Oncefound, the crewsworked to unstop the sewer main using a sewer
combination cleaning truck. It was determined that the blockage was caused by a large amount of
grease and rags that had built up in the invert of the manhole. Once the spill was knocked down all
solids were removed, and lime was spread over the area. This was traced back to an elicit discharge
from a grease trap at a food establishment. The FOG coordinator discussed the matter with a business
representative. The establishment was issued a NOC. When re -inspected the grease trap was found in
compliance. Increased inspections in this area will be conducted.
