Good morning, Ms. Densmore,
Because the NCG020000 General Permit also authorizes wastewater discharges, any dewatering discharges are
applicable too. Please enter the location where dewatering discharges would flow (this includes overflows due to
excessive rain for construction sand/gravel mines, which are considered dewatering wastewater).
If there is absolutely no potential to discharge any kind of stormwater or wastewater from this mine site, you should
submit a rescission request for this Certificate of Coverage, and the regional office will inspect to confirm. The rescission
form can be found on our website here:

Based on the current guidance to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Environmental Quality has
adjusted operations to protect the health and safety of the staff and public. Many employees are working remotely or
are on staggered shifts. To accommodate these staffing changes, all DEQ office locations are limiting public access to
appointments only. Please check with the appropriate staff before visiting our offices, as we may be able to handle your
requests by phone or email. We appreciate your patience as we continue to serve the public during this challenging
time.

Good morning,
In regards to NPDES General Permit Renewal & Electronic Reporting Requirements for
Sobol Mine - Carolina Beach Rd, NPDES Permit Certificate of Coverage (COC) Number
NCG020423
The letter states stormwater outfall information and or DMR must be completed.
This is a sand mine and there is no stormwater outfall.
There is nowhere to collect a sample.
Does this fact make this site exempt?
What document would you need submitted?
Thank you,
