Brad From: Farrell, Sean C <scfarrell@ncdot.gov> Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 2:24 PM To: Shaver, Brad E CIV USARMY CESAW (USA) <Brad.E.Shaver@usace.army.mil>; Steenhuis, Joanne <joanne.steenhuis@ncdenr.gov> Cc: Herndon, T. Mason <tmherndon@ncdot.gov> Subject: \[Non-DoD Source\] Brunswick County US-17 Bus.Old Ocean HWY Pipe Replacement Brad and Joanne, We have proposed modifications to the proposed pipe replacement on US-17 Bus. in Brunswick County which was originally authorized for burial waiver under Action ID # SAW-2019-01782 and DWR Project No. 20191220. In order to meet current safety standards with the existing lack of shoulder and steep drop off, our new pipe is proposed 15.7’ longer than our existing pipe. Keeping a 3% slope, this will put us approximately at grade with the elevation that our surveyor picked up approximately 100’ downstream. We will still need to construct a riprap flume since the pipe will still be physically perched above the existing blowhole (unable to obtain elevations at deepest areas), but we are proposing to keep this under 4 LF so that our overall stream channel impacts will be less than 20 LF. Please let me know if you see any issues with these proposed modifications. Hope you all are staying safe and healthy!
