NPDES Stormwater Permit NCS000105
Enclosed are the 1st half semi-annual 2020 Stormwater discharge monitoring reports for
both the Canton Mill Landfill (NPDES Stormwater Permit NCS000105) and Canton Mill
(NPDES Stormwater Permit#NCG120000 COC NCG120098). Two of the samples (one at
the landfill and one in the mill) exceeded the benchmark for Total Suspended Solids and a
Tier I response has been initiated per the permit.
During an environmental self-audit at the Canton facilities,we discovered a lapse of the
environmental management system. We can find no record of the 2nd half semi-annual
2019 Stormwater discharge monitoring reports or inspections for the Canton Mill and
Landfill.We believe this oversight occurred during the transition of several staff members
in the environmental organization. The individual who was responsible for this report is no
longer with the organization. This position has been replaced and the stormwater duties
have been reassigned. More importantly,we have improved our systems to prevent this
type of situation from occurring in the future.
