The following is submitted as required under Section E, General Permit No. NCG12000, by the
Macon County Landfill, located at 1448 Lakeside Drive, Franklin, North Carolina 28734;
Certification of Coverage Number NCG120083.
Attached is a signed copy of the Discharge Monitoring Report form for Outfall 3. Outfall 3 is
currently in Tier 2 monitoring for the fecal coliform parameter. The sample was over the
benchmark for fecal coliform after being right on the benchmark in December. After collecting
this sample, the ditch leading to Outfall 3 was cleaned so the bottom could be inspected. During
inspection, there appeared to be no noticeable explanations as to why this sample was elevated.
The ditch and the areas up gradient of the outfall will continue to be inspected. Also, the landfill
cell located up gradient of this outfall has since stopped receiving waste and has been covered
with 12 inches of soil.
