With that, DMF is willing to allow the adjustment in the timing of dredging operations. And if anything changes and the timing needs to be pushed back to outside of the moratorium period, just let me know. Thanks for the heads up, and hopefully this round of dredging goes a little more smoothly! Rather than spending any money on these tugs we are just going to wait until our new ones come in at the end of August. Therefore we would be looking to dredge the basin the first or second week of September rather than August. Obviously, if something happens and this is pushed even further out we would just wait until the moratorium is no longer in effect come October. However, we want to get it done as soon as possible because the dredge is currently tied up right next to the basin, this is the last of the dredging needed for the foreseeable future in the area, and the dredge needs to get to the Shipyard for maintenance once the basin is complete. I sincerely apologize for altering this request so many times. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need anything clarified regarding this situation and request. Should additional time be needed, please coordinate with DMF. The additional permit requirements should still apply. Also, please provide DMF with the results of the updated survey upon their receipt. Thank you! The mouth of the basin is beginning to display signs of shoaling that could potentially be severe enough to impact the safety of those aboard the ferries, including the traveling public. The dredge is currently out of service for repairs but it should be operational within a couple of weeks. If the NMFS and the NC DMF grant permission to dredge within the basin we would then request authorization from the US ACE and the DCM. If all approvals are received, NC Ferry would plan to begin work the first or second week of August. The work would take approximately one week. I have attached a survey of the basin for reference. It is from February 2020 so it does not display the current levels of encroachment adequately. However, a new survey is scheduled to be take place within the next two weeks and can be provided upon its receipt. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
