Snider, Regional Supervisor WSRO 450 West Hanes Mill Road, Suite 300 Winston Salem, INC 27105 Subject: Response to Notice Of Violation (NOV-2020-PC-0227) I'a c Department of Environmental quality Received !"ON 17 2020 Winston-Salem Regional Office The N.O.V. notes that Total Chlorine Residual missing on different months. The reading was in the wrong column, the Total Chloride column which is right beside Total Chlorine. We are aware of this mistake and are carefully entering data on the monthly report to avoid this mistake in the future. The N.O.V. also notes flow missing. This is evidently due to a missed day on the weekend. Our Treatment Plant is required to have a five day per week visit however, per the permit, flow is required to be measured "continuous". Sometimes it doesn't work out for one of the two operators to be there on the weekend to read the meter. The flow meter at the plant resets itself daily so we can't do an average. We are investigating switching to a Flow Totalizing/ Data Recorder style meter so we won't have to physically be on site to read the meter. Meanwhile we are diligently trying to get the reading on the weekend so not to be in violation in the future. The N.O.V. also addresses ph, Fecal Coliform, Ammonia Nitrogen, and Total Sodium. These were on a separate report mailed at a different time. Data Entry at the State may have missed keying these in since the reports arrived separately. We will now be submitting all daily monitoring and sampling data on one single report to the State. We apologize for these errors and are working to ensure no further violations. Thank You. j 0 — p^ Larry T. Chilton (ORC) Michael T. Walker (Secretary)
