Hello again,
I talked to Monte and we agreed that since it’s in the ROW and the fence is for the R-2915 project, it will require a
permit modification vs. a NWP.
Is this urgent? It looks like it’s really close to the fence post. A permit modification typically takes 35 days or longer once
we receive the request. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Lori

Hi Kevin,
Just want to make sure that I understand -the erosion on the bank isn’t caused by the R-2915 project, but it is
threatening the fence that is there because of the R-2915 project, correct?
Thanks,
Lori

Hey Lori and Dave
We are experiencing some streambank loss along HWY 221/R-2915 on the A section. The streambank loss is not
believed to be a result of anything we are doing, but it is undermining our controlled access fence. There are livestock
animals close by, so we’d like to preserve the controlled access fence as a safety measure. Also, the eroding banks may
soon start to undercut some new, large powerlines that are between the streambank and HWY 221.
I’ve contacted our central staff, since they permitted the R-2915 project, to see if we need to handle as a modification or
a separate permit. Ultimately, that depends on your thoughts, but their initial opinion was that since the streambank
loss doesn’t appear to be caused by the project, that I could treat it as a separate issue and handle the permitting for it.
It looks like we will need 150’ of rip rap to fix the issue. As a result, I believe it will require a NW13 / GC4134 with
notification, since the work is within a trout watershed and exceeds 100’. Prior to filling out the PCN, I thought I’d get
your thoughts on handling it as a separate issue, and not a modification to R-2915. Attached is a plan sheet and some
photos. I’m more than happy to provide additional information.
Thanks in advance and hope you both have a great weekend!
Kevin
